He didn’t care if he was going against his own word.

He didn’t care if he had been the one who’d made the boundaries in the first place.

Wait for me, he’d told her.

Karma almost grinned wryly at that memory and returned to nuzzling into Okuda’s neck, almost purring at the soft murmurs she released when she felt him splaying soft kisses against her skin.

Then again, he’d never mentioned anything about not being allowed to visit on occasion. After all, there was nothing wrong with a little... reminder of their secret agreement.

“Geez, the girls from X-high are so hot!” light reddish eyes lazily turned to the group of students grumbling with each other in the corner of the room, his ears perking up when he heard the familiar school name reaching his ears. “Hell, they can probably rival the girls here at Kunugigaoka. I’m sure my mom wouldn’t mind if I dated someone from there. The girls there rank with us academically for sure.”

“Yeah, but you forget that they have guys at that school too,” another one grunted, shifting his glasses higher up his face. “Officially it’s written that there are two schools, one for the guys and one for the girls, but everyone knows that they mingle a lot together. The girls are probably too busy with the guys there to even notice us.”

Karma’s eyes narrowed.

“Man, shut up,” one of the students shoved the glasses student to the side. “You won’t know until you try.”

“Forget it,” the glasses guy rolled his eyes. “That place is also known for having on-campus residencies and it’s near impossible to break through their security. Unless the girls willingly come out to see us, they’ll probably go and fall in love with one of the guys attending X-high.”

He didn’t mean for things to escalate to this, but Karma partially blamed Okuda for this. All he’d plan to do was casually greet her, as though it was an everyday occurrence for him to take a stroll through the private grounds of her school. However, she just had to go and ruin all of that.

Karma skimmed his lips up her throat, following the trail of her jawline while he listened to her pant and quiet whines for more. It wouldn’t do to be too loud and he knew she was well aware of this. It was too expensive to get a room for herself and Okuda had opted to get two other roommates... roommates that were currently right outside the common room of their dorm.

“K-Karma-kun,” Okuda gasped, grabbing onto the wrist of the hand that was slowly inching up the bottom of her pajama top. “You said... You said...”

“I missed you,” he whispered heatedly before claiming her lips as his own. Karma was currently on her bed, leaning against the ridiculously large number of pillows she kept on it, looking so casual as though he belonged on her bed with her. He’d all by dragged Okuda on top of his lap, placing her sitting sideways on top of him, where he’d then told her they wouldn’t be doing much but cuddling like that.

But again, he blamed her for being so tempting. Perhaps Bitch-sensei had rubbed off against her more than she’d believed.

He loved how easily she yielded herself to his kiss, the contentment that was radiating off of her clearly indicating that she’d missed him as much as he did. Karma implored her to open her mouth, teasingly worrying her bottom lip between his teeth where he began to nip and suck at it. She opened her mouth immediately, giving him entrance into the hot cavern inside and he almost groaned at the familiar, tempting taste that was all her.

Seeing as though she was suitably distracted, Karma took advantage of her loosened grip around his wrist and trailed higher until he was brushing his hands on the underside of her breasts. She stiffened and for a moment, Karma thought she’d break away from him, but she always knew how to surprise him. Instead, Okuda didn’t resist, her hand still loosely gripping his hair while her eyes remained clenched, waiting for whatever it was that came next.

The sight of her so trusting and defenseless made the flush on Karma’s face deepen and he ended up being the one breaking their joined lips, swiftly pulling Okuda’s face against his chest so that she wouldn’t see just how flustered he was. He stared at the ceiling, trying to calm his erratic heartbeat. His hand had quickly left from underneath her shirt and was now delicately cradling her against him, one hand absentmindedly toying with her braid while the other was lightly holding onto her waist.

“Karma-kun?” she inquired softly, completely oblivious to how strained his self-control was right now.

Calm down. He needed to calm down.

He’d always known that he found Okuda to be cool and maybe even adorable sometimes. However, she had no idea the effect she had on him whenever she trusted him like that. It wasn’t as though she believed that he could do no wrong. In fact, he knew she’d be one of the first ones to tell him off if he was going astray. But this... the way she’d lean into his touch no matter how nervous or -maybe even- scared she was of the development... she trusted him enough to follow his lead no matter where it led.

The hand that had been playing with her hair reached out to cover the upper half of his face. His cheeks were still burning and he could feel his heart threatening to leap out of his chest due to how hard it was beating.

If only the rest of Class E knew of just how tightly wrapped the Devil Prince was around little Ms. Poison Glasses’ finger...

Okuda remained still against him and with how her face was being pressed so intimately against his chest, she had a front row seat of how fast his heart was beating. She listened to the sound before hesitantly reaching out and wrapping her arms around his chest. Karma stiffened, but he didn’t push her away and that was enough of an incentive for her to remain holding him snuggly against her.

It was strange... before Karma had confronted her in the classroom during their final days together at Kunugigaoka, she’d never thought of him like this. Granted, she knew she trusted him and found him to be kind and a great friend. But after that little stint in the classroom and how he wanted her to wait for him, she found just how lonely she felt at times without him to talk to. The two were comfortable enough with each other that they weren’t afraid to broach any topics that might come to mind.

She hadn’t realized just how precious it was to find someone like that until she had been separated from Karma.

Not to mention the way he’d light her on fire with just a smoldering look. It made her feel things she didn’t even think was possible. Because of how she still struggled with her communication skills, she wasn’t even sure if she’d ever be able to describe the feelings he pulled out of her. Okuda’s eyes closed slightly and she buried her face into his chest, enjoying the masculine scent that reminded her of the forest she and the other Class-E students had often romped around. Being like this felt so secure and warm.

Karma was desperately trying to prevent his body from freezing up –or worse, reacting- at how Okuda was so languidly nuzzling against him. It wasn’t as though he hated the feel of her burrowing into his chest like this, but he didn’t know how long he’d hold out until he had her pinned against the bed and crying out his name for more.

In fact, he sort of wanted to sigh in exasperation. As always, Okuda had a way of blowing up his plans.

First, he’d snuck into the private school grounds –though honestly, their security system was such a joke that they were practically inviting him inside- in order to remind her of her currently attached status. That plan had been blown to smithereens when he’d seen her talking to some of her male classmates, how they’d blush so innocently around her in a way that made Karma want to shove all their heads into the ground.

And so he’d changed his plans, opting to surprise her in her room instead. He’d planned on driving her mad with his touch and kisses, to give her a firm reminder of how she had him waiting for her in the future. However, she had changed the events around and they were now doing the exact thing he’d falsely promised her (a.k.a. just cuddling) after he’d surprised her in her room.

“You’re amazing, you know that?” Karma murmured mostly to himself.

Okuda looked up at him, confused as to what he meant by that, and he caressed her cheek softly. His hands slowly trailed lower, his thumb brushing against her quickening pulse on her neck, before it reached for the top of her shirt. She felt his fingers nimbly undo the first few buttons of her pajama shirt. Okuda wordlessly watched, her only reaction being the deepening flush of her cheeks and the slight widening of her eyes, when she felt him tug at the soft material of her night clothes to reveal a creamy shoulder for his hungry eyes. A tremor went down her spine as Karma leaned down in order to run his tongue across the exposed flesh. She panted slightly, instinctively tilting her head to the side to give him more access to her neck.

“K-Karma-kun,” she mewled.

He took his time in tasting her, lightly nipping and sucking at the sensitive skin, making her writhe and squirm on top of him at the ticklish yet pleasant sensation of him practically devouring the quickly reddening patch of skin. Karma seemed to obsess over that one spot, enjoying the way she’d gasp and clutch onto his hair when he blew softly on the now dark red spot that was vibrantly noticeable on her pale skin.

“Karma-kun?” she panted out when she felt him stop.

He pulled back and almost preened at the sight of his mark on her. His fingers lightly stroked her neck, thumbing the wet red mark that showed his claim on her. There was more that he wanted to do, to show the idiots on this campus that she was taken and content to be with him and him only. Alas, while his instincts demanded that he put any potential suitors in this place, he knew there was no need to worry.

Bearing a mischievous smile, he reached for the buttons of his shirt.

Okuda was barely in the process of pulling herself together when she realized that Karma was moving beneath her. She pulled away slightly and saw that he’d undone the first few buttons of his shirt. Her eyes were immediately averted when she caught a glimpse of his toned chest, the crimson blush on her face turning a nice shade of maroon.

“It’s your turn now.” He said cheekily.

“W-What?” Okuda squeaked with widened eyes.

“I made my mark on you to show that you’re mine,” Karma continued unabashedly, “now it’s your turn to make one on me.”

“M-Mark? What mark?” Okuda scrambled to get off of Karma, but he held on tightly around her waist, leaving her stretching to grab the mirror on the drawer next to her bed. She quickly pulled it towards her and tilted her neck, the blush on her face now creeping down her neck –almost camouflaging the Karma’s proud mark- at rapid speed. “K-Karma-kun, why did you do that? It’s on a noticeable spot too! I can’t hide this!”

“Exactly,” Karma smiled at her and cupped her cheek. “I want everyone in this school to know that you’re taken, Okuda-san. I want all those guys who were chatting so happily with you while I can’t, to know that there’s no way in hell that I’m ever letting you out of my grasp. Don’t you want to do the same for me?”

His words were making her blush even harder –if that was even possible!- and she couldn’t even form the words to express herself, her gaze continuously shifting back and forth from Karma’s exposed neck to the audacious grin on his face.

“Unless you’re fine with other girls ogling at me,” this time there was a slight pout on his face.

To his pleasant surprise, Okuda quickly shook her head. She didn’t even want to think about the painful tightening sensation in her chest at the mere thought of Karma holding onto someone else in the way he was doing with her right now. “N-No, that’s not it! I just... I just don’t know how to make one.”

Karma couldn’t help it. She was just too cute right now. He wrapped his arms around her and held her as tightly as he could without suffocating her. His words were then whispered against her hair. “All you have to do is exactly what I did. Kiss me, lick me... mark me. Try to devour me whole and pour all your feelings into it, to show that I’m taken by you and belong to you only.”

Her face was already strategically placed against his exposed throat and Okuda’s eyes were already staring at the way his Adam’s apple would hypnotically move with each low rumble of his voice. It was so comfortable to be held like this by him. She knew she wouldn’t feel this way with any other person in the world.

Hesitantly, she reached out to brush her lips against his skin.

If Karma-kun was to leave her for another, she wasn’t sure how she’d take it. Granted, they never really properly dated or acted like a normal couple... their bond primarily consisted of the occasional talks they had when they were younger and, of course, the many memories of their attempts to assassinate their middle school teacher. Still, she could already feel her heart clenching at the possibility of him choosing another.

Okuda nipped lightly on his skin, noticing the gentle scent of his body wash along with soothing smell of a forest right after a long torrent of rain. She could see their middle school classroom, the trees that surrounded them and the gentle breezes that blew by and brought about the entire scent of the forest to them.

If he were to try and leave her...

No, she could never let that happen. Karma-kun made it very clear that he wanted to be with her, but if something were to happen while they were separated... if he was to find someone that he felt more comfortable to be around than her...

Her teeth scrapped a little harder against his neck, her movements growing a bit harsher at the thought of that mere possibility. There was almost a sense of desperation on how hard she was marking his neck, as though she’d taken his word to heart and was using every ounce of her feelings to make sure there was a glowing sign on him that boldly told others to back away.

Karma was taken.

He was hers.

When she finally pulled away, there was a small strand of saliva joining her mouth to her neck and she felt mortified to see just how wet his neck was from her sloppy work. However, when her gaze was raised upward, she saw that Karma was having a hard time looking at her. In fact, his eyes were intently trained somewhere else, the normal scheming poker face of his replaced by a strained look that told volumes of how he was struggling with his tightly reined self-control.

“Karma-kun?” Okuda hesitantly called out and felt the familiar shivers fill down her spine when his piercing light eyes turned to hers.

Bloodlust.

Just as their teacher had diligently trained them in.

Okuda could see that it was taking everything of him to hold himself back. The smart thing would have been to back away. They’d branded their signs on each other and even if the marks were to fade, the memories of the other student’s eyes on that would not. The rumors would spread and linger, making it clear to others that she and Karma already had someone else in their minds.

Still, her hands reached up to lightly cup the side of his face.

It was as though his thirst of blood, the desire to kill, was wrapping itself around her. Her heart pulsed loudly against her chest, feeling threatened and hunted. All of her instincts cried that she run away from this predator... but not to run and escape, to hide so not to be eaten.

No, it beguiled her to escape in order to be chased.

The thundering of her heartbeat was due to the excitement at the prospect of being hunted.

Okuda leaned in and pressed her lips against his, relishing at how his self-control cracked slightly as he roughly pushed her down onto the bed.

More.

She wanted to be preyed upon more.

“You definitely learned well from Bitch-sensei,” he whispered heatedly against her thoroughly kissed lips. “Or else you wouldn’t have kissed me so gently like that.”

“Don’t stop, Karma-kun,” she whimpered, her fingers digging into his shoulders. “Please...”

She was so eager and willing beneath him. Karma gritted his teeth and leaned forward, burying his face into her neck while he almost collapsed all of his weight on her. Okuda’s fingers tightened around him even further out of surprise, not expecting him to fall down on top of her like that.

“Karma-kun?”

“Definitely learned too well,” his voice was muffled this time.

“W-What do you mean?”

“You’re turning this situation against me again,” there was almost a pouty whine in the way he spoke.

“I’m not!” she protested.

“Maybe not knowingly,” he groaned slightly. It was so easy to just give in the temptation, to run his hands up and down her silken and willing body. But this wasn’t the time. He should have known that his entire plan would have backfired like this. Instead of the contentment and amusement he sought, he was going to leave this place frustrated and impatient for the future. The only consolation was that she would be waiting at the end. She would be the one to embrace him with open arms once they’ve accomplished what they wanted. He murmured softly for her ears only. “Soon... we’ll be together soon. Can you wait for me?”

There was no immediate reply from Okuda who took the moment to digest his words. Her arms then reached up and wrapped around him, her face nuzzling into his hair as she soaked in the feel of the weight of his body on top of hers. Despite being separated for so long, she still felt so at ease with him.

Okuda didn’t want to let go. She wanted to hold onto him tightly and savor his presence forever. However, she understood his reasons. It was still too early. There were still too many things that need to be done.

She ran her fingers through her hair and whispered sincerely, a tinge of sadness yet understanding underlying her voice. “Always.”

To many others, Manami Okuda was considered to be a sweet introvert. She was kind and considerate, but too socially awkward to be able to comfortably make friends with her fellow classmates. There were times when she’d be too blunt, misunderstanding their subtle compliments or underhanded insults. It was one of the reasons why, other than her failing grades in Japanese, that she was considered to be a pariah from the ‘higher-class’ of Kunugigaoka Junior High.

That was also why, if anything, she preferred to be where she was most familiar with, which was surrounded by her many test tubes, distillers, and noxious chemicals. She knew exactly what to expect and how to predict the outcomes. Even if she made a mistake, all she needed to do was rely on the facts and science to be able to reverse or even fix the issue. People themselves and their emotionally charged words were too complicated and difficult to decipher for her.

That’s why Karma knew exactly where to find Okuda after classes end.

The door slid opened and he leaned against the entrance, smiling smugly when he saw Ms. Poison Glasses diligently organizing the jugs of chemicals stored within the locked closet of the school laboratory. Koro-sensei, knowing Okuda’s advanced knowledge in science and of how she diligently followed safety procedures, had actually given her a key so that she had free rein over the labs.

“Yo,” he greeted with a raised hand.

Okuda, startled, jumped and almost dropped her clipboard as she whirled around. Karma’s smile grew at the sight. She was always so oblivious to her surroundings, especially when she was so consumed into her work. Okuda tightly clutched onto the wooden board and gave Karma a sheepish smile. “K-Karma-kun!”

“Getting ready for another project, Okuda-san?” he strolled over to where she was, only to be stopped before he could get any closer.

“Safety first,” she said with her hand raised, nodding towards where the labcoats were. “You know the drill, Karma-kun. Lab coats, goggles, and no open-toed shoes when near the vats, even if they appear closed.”

He chuckled benevolently and reached for the white coats hanging against the wall. “Well that explains why Karasuma didn’t throw a fit when he found out that the octopus gave you permission to use the labs as your own personal playground.”

Okuda’s cheeks flushed and she looked away, scribbling nonsense on the board. “I-It’s the rules and it’s for people’s own safety. You never know what’s going to happen.”

“True,” he acknowledged before hovering over her shoulders, taking in the inventory listed. “So what are you up to?”

“J-Just making sure we have enough acids and bases for the next lesson,” she stammered and took a step to the side in order to create some space. “I-I might have used a bit during my last experiment and forgot that we had a lab project tomorrow.”

“Shouldn’t the stupid octopus be doing that?”

“Koro-sensei is out for some one-on-one assassination attempts with a few of the other students,” she said with a mild shrug and then smiled soft. It was a demure look that came up whenever she talked about something she enjoyed and Karma indulgently memorized the look. “Besides, I don’t mind.”

“But if you’re always stuck in the labs, how else are you going to assassinate him?” Karma sat on one of the stools, clutching onto the edge of it as he casually leaned backwards. “If anything, you should try and make some poison to give to the other guys so that they can use it to kill him.”

Okuda appeared surprised by his plan before she looked away, a slight unsure look on her face. “That’s true...”

“But you don’t want that, do you?” he continued smoothly.

Again, she appeared surprised, this time by his perceptiveness. Okuda fidgeted a bit, unable to look him in the eyes again. “I... I know that I’m not as talented as our other classmates. They’re very strong and fast while all I have are my brains.... and I can’t even use half of my brain since the only thing I’m good at are things like math and science. Still... I... I want to be able to assassinate Koro-sensei with my own abilities.”

Something sharp was pressed against her throat and Okuda’s hand immediately went up to grab onto the wrist of her assailant, barely stifling her gasp and her sigh of relief when she saw that the ‘weapon’ was completely green. Her reflexes were too slow compared to most of the students and she would have been killed if that’s what her attacker wanted. Realizing that she was in no true danger, she was then immediately exposed to the fact that Karma was pressing closely behind her, one hand loosely around her waist so that she wouldn’t be able to get away.

“K-Karma-kun?” she stammered out and the anti-sensei knife was pressed harder against her throat, actually pushing her back until the back of her head was resting against his chest.

“See, just like that,” he whispered softly into her ear. “I could have ended you just like that.”

“I don’t understand,” she squirmed a bit against him, but it was impossible to break free. “What are you trying to prove?”

“That you’re vulnerable and need someone to watch your back.” His voice was sharp, but what she couldn’t see was the soft affection in his eyes. It was always so easy to talk to her like this, so honestly. Their fellow students, even Nagisa, would feel unnerved if Karma approached them in a threatening manner like this. Okuda just looked nervous because of how closely pressed they were against each other. “It’s fine trying to figure out a solution by yourself, but if you don’t improve in all aspects, you’ll just fail all by yourself.”

“A-And how exactly should I improve?”

“Your speed for once,” Karma said as he grinned cheekily. “I’m impressed, Okuda-san.”

“By what?” she was unable to hide her sigh or relief when Karma pulled the knife away from her. Even if she trusted him, it was never comfortable to have something potentially dangerous pressed like that. However, to her confusion, he didn’t move away from her, keeping his hand comfortably around her waist as though he had every right to leave it there. The other hand began to playfully throw the knife in the air.

“I felt it,” he said. “You have a needle hiding beneath your sleeve. If my knife hadn’t reached first and you hadn’t noticed that it wasn’t a real weapon in time, you would have poisoned me by now, wouldn’t you?”

She didn’t say anything, mortified by the fact that she’d almost killed her own classmate... not to mention, Karma-kun at that! “D-Don’t tell anyone!” Koro-sensei would definitely not be happy if he knew she was actually carrying around poison that could hurt people and not their near invulnerable sensei. Karasuma-sensei also wouldn’t take this lightly and might even take away her keys!

“What, that you carry poison with you all the time?” there was an excited inflection in his tone of voice. “What kind of poison is it, anyways? Something really nasty?”

“I-It’s just yellow jasmine I had Koro-sensei pick up when he passed by North America during lunch!” Okuda said with a flustered look on her face, finding it difficult to concentrate when Karma was pressed so intimately against her. She could feel the heat of his hand on her hip and... and was she imagining things or was he actually nuzzling into her hair from time to time?! “I coated some needles with them and have them lined up in my sleeve... just in case.”

“Ooh,” there was genuine awe and appreciation radiating from Karma before he seemed to have reached a decision. He pulled back just a little bit so that Okuda could actually look up at him. “So what do you say, Okuda-san?”

“E-Eh?” she stared at him, completely lost.

“How about teaming up with me to kill the stupid octopus?”

Her eyes goggled at him. “What?”

“I’m probably more physically capable, but you have the scientific mind to create a bunch of little neat toys for me to use on him.” he grinned in delight at the prospect of the near future. There were already several ways they could team up together. Not to mention, there were so many real world applications to her skills. The smile on his face turned absolutely devious at that.

“Wouldn’t Itona-san be better if you want gadgets?” Okuda’s brows knitted together in confusion.

“Nah, Teresaka would throw a fit if he realized I took one of his more useful cronies and his inventions are a bit boring,” Karma said with a shrug before turning to her, a sharp yet heated look in his eyes as he smiled down at her. “Besides, I’d much rather have you as my partner.”

“...I thought Nagisa-kun was your partner?” her heart skipped a beat at the look on his face, but logic and trust won over any panic that might be welling up inside of her. She didn’t understand what he was saying to her and if he was talking about a partnership, it was true that if a formidable team was to be made, Nagisa and Karma were the duo that fit the bill. “You two are always together and work well as a team.”

“I think Kayano nabbed him in that department.” He said casually and almost laughed, knowing that he’d totally lost Okuda by now. Karma could already see the gears running through her head, asking ‘Nabbed him? Nabbed him how?’ “I want you to be my assassination partner, Okuda-san.” His eyes then lit up as a devious plan came to mind. Karma leaned in closer and practically purred the next words out into her ear. “Or should I say... Manami-chan?”

The breath from his mouth seemed to brand her ear with his voice and the mere intimacy of how he was speaking to her –and her first name at that!- made her involuntarily shudder. “K-Karma-kun, w-what are you-?”

“If we’re going to be partners, we should be friendlier with each other. You already call me Karma anyways. I’d say it’s fair if I get to cal you Manami-chan,” he said cheekily and she shrunk down a bit, knowing there wasn’t anything she could retort to that. “So what do you say? Will you be mine?”

He held out a hand towards her and Okuda stared at it. The way Karma had worded their partnership sounded so... strange. Her brows furrowed together as she attempted to decipher what he was trying to say. Perhaps there was a hidden message she wasn’t getting? But this was Karma-kun she was talking about. He may act differently from the other students and may have that dangerous, mischievous streak that made him a danger to others, but he’d never do anything to really harm her.

Okuda hesitantly reached out and placed her small hand against Karma’s larger one, a shiver going down her spine when she saw the devious smile on his lips. Why did it feel as though she’d just signed her life away to the devil? Her face flushed when he wrapped his fingers around her hand and lifted it up, pressing it against his lips where a teasing smile was in place.

“I look forward to working with you, Manami-chan.”

ANDedicate to Manami-chan's birthday!

Based on the cover page of Chapter 11. I was surprised to see Okuda listed as one of the more independent types and was listed as a ‘tricky ambushers’ like Karma. Apparently there’s more to her than meets the eye!

Wait For Me

HappyFace1886

Okuda sighed, a gentle smile on her face as she stared at her acceptance letter to her highschool of choice. Next to the small yet important piece of paper was the ridiculously thick book Koro-sensei had left for her, just as he’d left for everyone. There was no one in class right now as she’d come here after the end of the school ceremony. Others had already come to reminisce and Okuda had planned it so that she could take a moment of privacy, to soak in the fact that it was finally... over.

Her eyes stung as tears gathered in them.

Saying it was over made it sound so relieving, as though they’d overcome some horrible trial and was now going to live their lives in peace, but the truth was bittersweet instead. She’d hope so desperately that Koro-sensei could have been saved somehow. Still, the ending he met wasn’t that bad either. Surrounded by his precious students, content that he’d succeeded what he’d sought out to do.... and to finally be reunited with his beloved after fulfilling both of their dreams.

Okuda knew Koro-sensei was also confident that everyone in the class would do their best to live up to his expectations.

She was startled out of her thoughts when the classroom door opened. Okuda quickly brushed her tears away, her cheeks flushing at being caught like this. The blush turned crimson when she saw just who it was that caught her.

“K-Karma-kun,” she stammered.

He gave her a cocky grin, leaning against the entrance of the class. The evening light flitting through the windows gave a light glow to his red mane, extenuating the sharp yet crafty spark in his eyes. “Okuda-san.”

“W-What are you doing here?” it was difficult to calm her beating heart, especially when he’d caught her at such an embarrassing moment. Fidgeting a little, she tried to give him a carefree smile. “The others probably have gone home by now.”

“I should say the same to you,” he easily evaded her question, giving her a mischievous grin that would have normally sent their other classmates scurrying for the hills. But, as always, Okuda didn’t appear affected. Instead, the smirk seemed to calm her jittery nerves and the smile on her face turned more genuine. Karma stared at her for a bit before walking towards her, straddling the chair in front of her desk backwards so he could face her. “So what is it?”

“Huh?” she asked, looking befuddled.

“The reason you’re here all by yourself?”

Okuda’s eyes softened as she turned her attention to the paper in front of her. “I was just remembering everything we’ve been through... and I wanted to share with Koro-sensei that I got into the school of my choice.”

“Of course you did,” Karma leaned against the table, resting his chin against his fist while he took the acceptance letter between them, spinning it around so that he could read it. “An all girl’s school?”

“Well, it’s not really an all girl’s school.” She said with a sheepish grin. “There’s a boy’s school right next door, but they like to divide things up while having the occasional co-ed activities. I’m more interested in the science program that they have there.”

“Hm, that sounds like you,” there was an unreadable smile on his face that made Okuda tilt her head in curiosity. The question was brimming to her lips, but she knew he’d tell her if he wanted to.

“Karma-kun is staying at Kunugigaoka, right?” she giggled slightly, leaning back comfortably against her seat. “I’m sure you’ll be number one here in no time.”

“Of course,” the devilish side of him appearing to leak through and Okuda could practically see the horns forming. The smile on his face turned sinister at the forthcoming future. “Those idiots here won’t know what hit them.”

The smile on Okuda’s face faded a bit, a rueful look replacing it instead. “I guess it’s finally happening then, isn’t it?”

Karma shrugged carelessly. “It was always bound to happen.”

“Of course,” she agreed. “It’s just hard to imagine that it’s finally here. We’re all going out separate ways...”

“I doubt most of us will lose touch with each other though,” he said with a soft snort. Almost everyone in this class had a mushy complex and even those who were mostly loners would be bugged into keeping in contact with everyone else. Not to mention, with technology these days, there was no chance they’d ever lose contact with one another. “It’s not every day that an entire class unites together to save the world.”

“Still, who knows when the next time will be when we see each other in person and all together?” Okuda whispered before quickly shaking her head. “Sorry, I’m being a bit pessimistic. I guess everything still feels surreal.”

“No,” Karma spoke and then grinned slyly at her, “that’s what I like about you Okuda-san. It’s comfortable to talk to you.”

She smiled back at him. “I find it comfortable to speak to you as well.”

“But for me, I haven’t found anyone else I can speak to as comfortably as I do with you,” he continued, maintaining their locked gazes. The smile on Okuda’s face faltered a bit, confusion flitting through her features as his eyes seemed to sharpen. A heaviness was filling the air and she could feel the pressure on her shoulders. Was he releasing his bloodlust? But why? “Do you find that to be the same?”

Okuda laughed, albeit a bit nervously this time. “M-Maybe? And you’re exaggerating, Karma-kun. You and Nagisa-kun are probably closer!”

“Nagisa is one thing,” Karma spoke softly before a dark underlying edge honed the fine tips of his voice. “You are a completely other thing.”

Words were lost on her as the bloodlust seemed to intensify. She’d always seen the power of his killing intent from afar, but never had it ever been aimed towards her. But why? She just couldn’t understand. They’d been taught from Koro-sensei to hone their bloodlust and to launch it towards whatever it is they desire, to devour and tame it until they’d murdered it to submission.

So what was Karma-kun after?

“I...” she began softly, but there was no need for her to even continue as a pair of soft lips was suddenly upon her.

The touch was gentle, almost convincingly innocent. However, right before he pulled away, she felt the faint brush of his tongue on the seams of her lips, threatening to enter but pulling away at the last minute, leaving behind a searing wet mark that lingered hotly on her lips. Her eyes were wide and she could only stare dumbly at him, caught totally off-guard by the devil prince of Class-E.

Karma appeared amused by this, leaning casually against the desk behind him with his arm propped on top of it. He tilted his head. “Shall I do it again?”

“W-Wait a minute!” she yelled, slamming her hands on the edge of the desk in order to pull back as far as she could. It had to have been a dream o-or an illusion of sorts. She hadn’t been experimenting with any chemicals lately, but maybe this was the by-product of having inhaled so many of the dangerous fumes from her poisonous concoctions? Okuda didn’t even realizing she was muttering out loud until she heard Karma’s cackling laughter.

“This isn’t a dream and I’m pretty sure it has nothing to do with your experiments,” he teased her and spoke tauntingly, even daring to lick his lips. “Should I do it again to prove that it’s all very real?”

“N-N-No!” Okuda yelled, her braids flinging about as she wildly shook her head. “I believe you. This isn’t a dream! B-But why?”

Karma appeared a bit disappointed by her immediate rejection before smoothly recovering, enjoying the sight of her flustered face instead. “Why do you think?”

Okuda fell silent, desperately trying to understand what he was trying to do. She trusted Karma-kun and she knew he wasn’t the type to play around with girls like this. So why did he kiss her like that? N-Not to mention... the thing with his tongue...

Karma withheld his chuckle when he saw Okuda furiously shaking her head, obviously trying not to think about their kiss. However, it was not accident that he’d brush his tongue against her like that. He wanted her to remember, to have it branded in her mind of what he’d done.

“Karma-kun,” she spoke softly. The way she looked so timid and unsure made the bloodlust around him to grow. It was so tempting to reach out and kiss her all over again... and just as he was infamously known for, he easily gave into such temptation and did it again.

Okuda’s eyes widened to the size of dinner plates when he did it again, his lips pressed firmly against her this time. She felt his hands cupping the side of her face, his lips slightly breaking against hers in order to better slant them against her own, pressing even more intimately against her. The feeling was so nice and made her feel a pleasant warmth, her eyes fluttering close without her even realizing as she felt herself lost under his touch.

Karma brushed his thumb against her soft cheek and almost groaned at how willingly she gave herself to him. Silly girl, did she understand the effect she had on him? Did she even realize what she was doing by easily letting her guard down and showing her vulnerable neck to a dangerous carnivore like him? But he was not one to let an opportunity to go wasted, his tongue already brushing against the seams of her lips, tempting her to open her mouth to him.

He felt her tremble under his touch, but to his glee, she willingly parted her lips for him, giving him entrance to the hot cavern of her mouth. His tongue immediately slipped inside, brushing against her own, stroking it lovingly, making her shake even harder against him as she became overwhelmed by the sensations he was forcibly eliciting out of her.

She could taste his mouth and the feel of his tongue made her whimper, her head instinctively tilting backwards so that he could better kiss her. It wasn’t until he finally pulled away, the reluctance clear in his actions from how his tongue languidly uncurled itself around her own, that her glazed eyes fluttered opened. The first thing she saw was the lazy contentment in Karma’s face and felt mortified when she also felt how wet her mouth was, their joined saliva threatening to slide down from the corner of her lips due to how hungrily he’d devoured her.

Her hands clapped themselves over her mouth and she couldn’t bear to face him, her head bowed as she stared intently at her desk.

W-What?

Why?

“I want you, Okuda-san.” The sound of his voice, just knowing that those lips had been all over her own just seconds ago, made the flush of her cheeks deepen. However, when his words finally registered in her head, it was as though a firecracker had exploded in her mind.

She stared at him, completely dazed and confused. “Wha-?”

“Can you really say that you don’t feel the same?” he inquired. “Your reaction showed that you liked it a lot when I kissed you... and I’ll honestly say that I liked it a lot as well. Actually, I wouldn’t mind doing it-.”

“Wait!” she yelled when she saw him leaning in again. No, she couldn’t let him do that. She couldn’t think when he k-kissed her like that... and a part of her felt like he was doing that intentionally, trying to make it difficult for her to over-think everything. Almost as though he didn’t want her to forget it...

It was at that moment that clarity finally reached her, the realization as to why Karma-kun was acting like this.

Did... Did Karma-kun actually like her? As in, more than just the friend sense, but actually like her-like her?

But why? They’d always been just comfortable friends with each other. When had it actually escalated to the point that there might be something... more between them than just mere friends?

Or maybe... maybe there had always been something there? Something so small that it could be considered insignificant that it’d completely passed her mind? There had always been that possibility, as faint as it may have seemed, but the trust that they already had between each other implied a bond already present. It wasn’t just about childish crushes or a flaming passion.

They’d already liked each other to the point that it simply felt right that they be at each other’s side.

But why now? Why was Karma-kun bothering to do something like this right now out of all times? Granted, Koro-sensei was now gone and he was no longer focused on assassinating their dear sensei. However, they were now parting ways. It had already been decided that she’d be going to the highschool of her choice and it was too late to change plans. She knew without a doubt, especially with Karma-kun’s personality, that Karma-kun wasn’t going to change his choice of school either. This was just a disaster in the making already!

“...why?” with her eyes cast to the side, she finally uttered the question revolving in her mind.

“Because I want you to wait for me.” He spoke with his usual cool confidence, staring at her with his piercing eyes that spoke of a hunter trained on its prey. The assassin locked on its target.

“Karma-kun,” she began.

“Believe me,” he murmured so softly and yet there was an underlying possessiveness that sent a shiver up from the bottom of her spine to the very edges of her shoulders. She could tell that he was serious about this. Very serious about this. “There’s nothing more that I want than to make you mine.”

“But?”

“I have a dream I want to fulfill,” he spoke honestly, hiding nothing from her. “It’s something I want to do not matter what.... but, I don’t want to give you up either. So I’m asking that you wait for me, to give me time to accomplish what I want.”

It was impossible to stop the smile forming on her face as she knew quite well of his ambitions. It was something that she’d supported from the very beginning and there was no way she’d want to be an obstacle for him... though knowing him, he’d find a way to handle both if truly necessary. Still, because she did know him, she knew he wanted to hone his craft to perfection, to put all his focus on sharpening his blade to the point that no one in this world could dare defy him.

This was just so like the Karma-kun she knew.

“I hope you don’t expect me to just sit around and wait for your return,” there was no malice in the way she spoke nor was there any taunting. “I have dreams I want to fulfill as well.”

“I know,” he returned her smile with a softened one of his own. “I want us to grow as people, to become someone worthy of each other. Because of that, I wanted to make it clear... wait for me, Okuda-san.”

She stared at him wordlessly before giving him a brilliant smile. It still amazed him how she was so easily able to give him such content and unguarded smiles like this without hesitation. There was never any underlying meaning to it. She was always honest and vulnerable around him. “Of course I’ll wait for you, Karma-kun.”

“Good,” he hid his flustered cheeks with a mischievous look instead, “though I think it’s a bit regretful that you gave in so easily.”

“Why is that?”

“If you had said no, once I succeeded with my goals, I would have done everything in my power to make you mine anyways.” Karma’s smile was positively devious, enjoying the endearingly shy look on Okuda’s face as she found it impossible to look at him. “And I’m sure I would enjoy every last second of assassinating your heart and making it all mine.”
