Summary: Most people wanted romantic
proposals... where the guys make it all flashy and clear to the entire world
that this was the one woman they wanted to be with for the rest of her life.
However, the way he had pop in for a quick visit while casually threatening Takabayashi not to
lay a hand on his fiancée, without having said a single word about proposing to
her, was so totally like him. Karmanami / Karma x Manami

“Of course,” Karma said cheekily. “Once we’re
officially husband and wife, I have no plans of letting you out of my sight for
at least a week! Everyone’s going to want to kidnap you for details when they
find out the truth. I’ve waited all this time for you, Manami-chan, and I plan
to enjoy every last second I have of you to myself before that happens!”

Assassinated Heart

Okuda gathered all her
paperwork together, shuffling them into a neat pile in order to place in her
folders. There was a puff of pride in her chest at how she and Takebayashi-kun
had obtained approval in furthering their researching of the type RH null null
transfusion blood. The foundation of the blood type was a dear parting gift
from Koro-sensei and the fact that they were able to successfully utilize it
made her nearly tremble with excitement.
“Good work today, Okuda-san,”
Takebayashi spoke from near the doorway and Okuda turned around excitedly.
Based on how there was a grin lingering on the usual stoic man’s face, she knew
he was equally affected by the day’s results. “Let’s progress more on the
research tomorrow.”
“Of course,” she grinned.
“Are you still going to meet
the others at school?” he inquired, knowing there was no need to even specify
what school he was talking about. To them and to all of those from Class E,
there was only one school that meant anything to them.
This time her smile turned a
bit rueful. “I think it’s a bit too late for that.”
He nodded in agreement. In
exchange for being able to show the results of their research to the professor,
they had to miss the time their other classmates were going to meet at
Kunugigaoka. By the time they got on the train to head for school, it would be
late at night. Takebayashi shrugged. “How about dinner then? There’s a fancy
place that opened down the street.”
“It’s not a maid café again,
is it?” Okuda asked teasingly and Takebayashi grinned.
“You did ask where my favorite
place was.” The two chuckled slightly at the memory, especially due to how
they’d ended up bumping into Terasaka who’d snuck away from his job. The
normally gruff boy, now grown to an equally gruff man, had been savoring his
moment in paradise when it’d been ruined by a phone-call from his boss who
started hollering that he better not be lazing at some ‘god-forsaken-otaku-club-again’! “So how about it? It’ll be on me
and I promise, there won’t be any maids this time.”
Okuda smiled warmly and opened
her mouth to reply when she heard his
voice.
“Now I’m pretty sure you
weren’t trying to ask my fiancée out
on a date,” the dark velvety voice echoed from within the hallway and
Takebayashi stiffened as he felt a heavy hand firmly gripping onto his
shoulder. Despite the years that had passed, a cold shiver still went down his
spine whenever he heard the voice of the now matured Devil of Class E. “Right,
Takebayashi-kun?”
There was no need to even turn
his head. Takebayashi knew there was that creepy devilish smile on Karma’s face
and he coolly pulled away from the man’s hold, adjusting his glasses as he did
so. “No need to be paranoid, Karma-kun. I know you two are... wait, since when
were you two engaged?”
Takebayashi whipped his head
towards Okuda, but the glasses woman looked stunned as well. Her eyes were
slightly widened and her jaw slacked opened before all of it faded away as
quickly as it’d came, a warm and sincere smile blooming instead. In that
moment, Takebayashi knew there was no need to say anything else. All those
years ago when he and Okuda met up during their freshman year of college and Karma
had appeared out of nowhere like a demon straight out of hell, cheerfully
warning him that Okuda is already taken and that he better not get any funny
ideas, he’d learn to just accept whatever happened with this odd couple.
“I think I’m going to just
call Terasaka to check out the café in his district,” he deadpanned as he
pulled out his cellphone. “You two have fun, but don’t make a mess in the lab.
We still have work to do tomorrow.”
“Of course!” Okuda rushed.
“No promises,” Karma
nonchalantly said at the same time. Okuda stared at him in surprise while Karma
smiled in a carefree manner at her. Takebayashi snorted and then gave them a
wave before leaving the room. Karma continued smiling after him and waited
until his footsteps faded before shutting the door. He turned around to where
Okuda stood and his smile turned absolutely feral.
“It’s been a while,” Okuda
managed to say before he rushed in for a kiss. His arm wrapped itself around
her waist and pulled her closer, pressing his lips insistently against hers. To
his delight, she looped her arms around his neck and leaned towards him,
parting her lips in open invitation, one that he didn’t hesitate to take.
His scent, his taste, his
presence was so overwhelming to her sense and yet, she allowed herself to drown
in them. Okuda’s hand reached up to tangle in his hair, clenching and tugging
lightly at the flaming red mane that always attracted people’s eyes. Her
movements seemed to encourage him further, lighting the fire that was already
threatening to burn through him.
The table rattled as he
suddenly picked her up and roughly placed her on there, her legs parted and
wrapped around his waist as he absentmindedly shoved the paper she’d just
organized all over the ground. Research documents, office supplies, and
measuring tools all went flying off the table. As though realizing what just
happened, she squeaked against his lips in dismay (five minutes hadn’t even
passed since she’d promised not to make a mess of the lab!), but the matter was
quickly forgotten when she locked eyes with his piercing golden eyes.
He hovered over her with his
hands pinned on the sides of her head and, though she’d seen a hint of it
during their brief meetings in highschool and even more infrequent meetings in
college, she was taken aback by just how much bigger he was than her. His
shoulders were broad and larger than she’d remembered, her strongest memories
of him being from their time in middle school. One his hand was now trailing
towards her neck and she shivered at the feel of the hard calluses on them, the
power that radiated from his very fingertips. Obviously he hadn’t discontinued
his training since their time at Class E.
She was so vulnerable beneath
him... so exposed and so helpless... and yet her cheeks were dusted in pink and
she looked up at him breathlessly, her head leaning into his hand as he
caressed the side of her face.
All those lingering touches...
The frustratingly brief
moments...
It all ended here.
“You’re mine,” he purred and
felt warm contentment when she smiled at him, her hand reaching up to touch his
hand.
“And you’re mine as well.” She
murmured sincerely.
Karma’s eyes softened, but the
moment was ruined as she continued speaking.
“But I think it might be
better if we didn’t continue this here,” she said with her eyes shifting
towards the mess on the floor. “Takebayashi-kun will definitely be unhappy
about this and if the professor sees this mess then-.”
“Manami,” Karma groaned as he
playfully collapsed almost all of his weight onto her, pinning her on the
table. How typical of her to be so straight-forward and honest. “We were having
a moment right now.”
He was greeted with silence
and he lifted his head up, only to see a flustered look on her face. “My... My
name...”
“Is Manami,” he said for her
with a grin. “After all, it’ll be unusual that the fiancé would call his
fiancée by her surname, right? Besides... it won’t be long until it changes to
Mrs. Akabane Manami, hm?”
Karma was nuzzling into her
neck as he finished his words. It was so like her to be more stunned about
being called by her first name than being proclaimed his fiancée. But in a way,
very fitting. It was always known that they’d end up together sooner or later.
“Akabane Manami,” she murmured
softly, absentmindedly stroking Karma’s hair. He preened under the attention,
splaying kisses against her soft skin in approval.
“Do you like it?”
“I like it,” she said
honestly.
“Good,” he said with a peck
against her lips. “Because we’re going to court tomorrow morning to fill out
all the documents and if you want, I guess we can have a fancy wedding as well.
Until then, we should go out and get some dinner.”
Manami looked surprised as
Karma climbed off of her, adjusting his suit that was nearly wrinkled beyond
repair. “H-Huh?”
“Hm?” a smile teased his lips
as he turned to look at her. “What’s wrong?”
She looked at him and at the
floor littered with the research notes and tools, the flustered look of
confusion clearly etched on her features. “I... I mean...”
The smile on his face looked
absolutely predatory and Manami felt her heart rate sky-rocket. It was the same
look Karma had whenever he’d tease or torment one of their classmates back in
the good ole days. While she knew he’d never hurt her, she was still wary of
what was to come next.
“Were you expecting a bit
more, Manami-chan?” he teased, sauntering back towards her before leaning
forward. His hands pressed against the table beside her head, effectively
keeping her pinned beneath him. His dark amber eyes layered with amusement
watched how the redness of her cheek deepened and he trailed his lips against
her soft cheek. “Believe me, I’d want nothing more than to claim you right here
and now.”
“T-Then why don’t you?” her
words came out in a stammer, but in true Okuda-fashion, she spoke
straight-forwardly and honestly. A trait Karma appreciated and adored. Though
right not, it was poking –more like stabbing- furiously at his self control.
“Because,” her body felt so
soft and warm. Not to mention, she tasted so good. So many nights he’d dream of
her and each time he’d sneak a greet from her, it’d take all his will-power not
to break his promises. It was to the point that he’d become torn between seeing
her and avoiding her in fear that he’d lose all control. “I plan on doing
things right by you.”
“What if,” she shivered under
the ministration of his tongue, gasping when he started paying attention to a
particularly sensitive part of her neck. “W-What if I don’t care a-about things
like that.”
Her legs were raised and
opened for him to nestle in between them. It felt so right having his strong
and sturdy body being carefully cradled by her thighs. She liked the feel of
him on top of her and made it clearly known by holding onto him, tilting her
head to give him more room to explore and taste.
And he knew... he knew just
how pliant and eager she was for his touch.
He almost groaned and gave in
at that moment. It was so tempting and she was so willing. “So you don’t mind
our first time being in the office that you work at every day and almost every
night?”
“K-Karma!” Manami squeaked
chidingly.
“And by doing things right by
you, I meant having our first time preferably on a bed.” He continued to tease,
enjoying how flustered she was getting. “We can be more adventurous next time and
if you still want, next time I don’t mind-.”
“Karma!” this time, Manami
yelled and amusingly enough, instead of pushing him away, she pulled him closer
in order to bury her face into the crook of his neck. She was so mortified that
she whimpered slightly while he began to pet her gently. “I’m sorry I’m so bad
at this.”
Karma gave into impulse and
pulled her into a tight embrace, never mind the fact that he was already on top
of her. “You’re not bad at this at all, Manami.”
“...I don’t know what I’m
doing,” she confessed quietly.
“Well, neither do I,” he
responded nonchalantly, delighted at how easy it was to still be so open and
honest with her. It was nothing like when dealing with his stupid coworkers or
the other bureaucrats who thought themselves so clever and smart. Karma pressed
his lips on hers gently and smiled against them when he felt Manami tilt her
head ever so slightly, melding her lips better against his. “But we have all
the time in the world to learn together now.”
He pulled back slightly and
felt his cheeks redden when he saw her gazing up at him with soft lilac eyes.
There was a warmth in those light orbs that he was unfamiliar with, an
affection he was never really exposed to. His parents were never really around
and he didn’t have any relatives to dote on him. The most he’d had was Nagisa
and even then, they’d drifted apart.
But Manami... even when she
hadn’t physically been there over the years, she’d been a constant in his life.
He could always count on her to be there for him, to listen to him whenever he
had something in his mind and to bluntly put him in his place when he needed
it. Because she trusted him and did not think of him as different... or as different as the other students or people around
them saw him to be.
“Karma...” he was broken out
of his thoughts when a warm hand reached up to cup his cheek and he
instinctively leaned against it, pressing his lips against the soft palm of her
hand. Manami had never really been a physical fighter and in a way, he cherished
that fact. He liked the fact that she was so soft and sweet. “I... I think...
No... I know... I love you.”
Karma stilled and his eyes
slightly widened.
Manami felt his surprise, but
still surged forward. “I-I know we haven’t spent as much time as a normal
couple would, but... but this feels just so right. I don’t think I’ve ever felt
so comfortable with another person. I mean... I’ve met many people who share my
love of chemistry and the sciences, but still, they just... I’m not sure how to
say this... but it just wasn’t the same as when I talk to you about anything.”
She clenched her eyes shut,
feeling as though she’d ruined something between them. It’d surprised her when
they’d been in middleschool and Karma bluntly told her that he wanted a
relationship with her. Then during highschool, it’d become obvious that there
was a physical attraction between them. But as they got older... as they had
their moments together between the sweet heated kisses and the fun nightly
talks... she found that Karma had become a presence in her life that she felt
empty without.
It was more than immature
affection. It was more than just a physical need she had for him.
His lips against hers, his
strong body pressed against hers... all of that felt so lovely and good, but it
didn’t replace how her heart would skip a beat whenever he’d pop up from the
window of her apartment late at night in order to just talk about how their day
went. She loved watching that mischievous spark in his eyes when he’d let her
in on his devious plans against his classmates and later coworkers. And then
there was how he’d listen so patiently to what was going on in her work while
never being embarrassed about asking the meaning about certain terminologies
and methods. He didn’t care if all she had to talk about was boring theories or
developments.
In her eyes, she had nothing
interesting to offer him. Karma Akabane was the heartthrob of hundreds of
girls. Playful and devious, intelligent and strong... the entire package all
wrapped up in that handsome face with that dark sinister streak that drew in
girls in droves.
“Well I’m glad to hear that my
fiancée is in love with me,” her eyes flew open at his playful words. She
gasped when he suddenly pulled her up from the table, leaning back so that he could
settle on her seat with her on his lap. He pulled her close and nuzzled into
her hair. “All the more reason why we should get married. And soon.”
“You... I...” she sputtered.
“You didn’t think I wanted to
marry you if I didn’t love you too, did you?” he arched an eyebrow she couldn’t
see and almost laughed when he felt her clinging onto his shirt. Karma leaned
back against the chair, enjoying the weight of her on his person and
affectionately ran a hand up and down her back. “After... Koro-sensei died... I
didn’t want to lose anything precious to me ever again. I didn’t want to sit
back and have regrets about what could have been. Asking you to wait for me...
that was a gamble.”
“A gamble?” she asked,
sounding confused.
“There were many things that could
have gone wrong with that, you know.” He remarked. “We barely saw each other
and were always with other people. What if your feelings changed? What if you
wanted someone else?”
“...would you have let me go?”
“...no,” he replied honestly.
“I wouldn’t either,” Manami
admitted with a soft blush. “I... I wouldn’t want to sit back and have regrets
either... that time when you fought with Nagisa-kun about Koro-sensei taught me
that.”
“You would’ve fought for me?”
he inquired with an interest that made Manami’s cheeks darken. “How?”
“I... I...” she stammered.
“I-I don’t know. It... It probably would have been through really stupid means
or... desperate...”
“Would you have tried to
seduce me back?” Karma pressed on, enjoying her flustered face. “I mean, we all
went through Bitch-sensei’s lessons. I’m sure you learned a thing or two there.
Well, I guess you’d have had to try pretty hard since I had the same lessons too
and-.”
Karma’s eyes widened when
Manami shut him up with a rushed kiss against his lips. She moved on his lap
until she was straddling his legs, her arms wrapped around him as she kissed
him with a shy desperation that left him stunned. He couldn’t tell if it was
because she was worried about losing him or was just so mindlessly embarrassed
with all his teasing, but the way she kissed him felt sincere. Manami may be
bad with words, but she was honest in other ways.
His eyes darkened and his hand
settled on her lower back, moaning lightly in approval at the way her tongue
curled against his own. When she finally broke the kiss, looking breathless and
unable to look him in the eye, Karma stroked her cheek and whispered huskily.
“We better get going.”
“Right,” Manami murmured, her
curled fists still pressed against his chest.
“We have a big day tomorrow.”
His lips curled once more into his trademark smirk. “I’m sure everyone will be
surprised next week to hear that we were the first ones to get married out of
all of them.”
“N-Next week?” she looked up
at him in confusion.

AN: Part Three of Three.
Sorry for the delay! I got super sick and now work is picking up. T___T no rest for me, I guess.
Anywho, sorry again to those that expected a little lemon with this. I actually tried to go that route, but it just doesn't seem right in this scenario. Maybe I'll just write another PWP smut for them later, ohohoho!
